Design & Build
Hanging garden chair
For my Design & Technology A-level project at Kings's Rochester, I had to complete a design brief from start to finish. My client brief was to make a garden swing seat for two. Two of the main challenges for me were learning how to laminate on a big scale and how to work with curved pieces. My client was really pleased with the result and I was thrilled to be awarded the annual DT prize this year - which I also received for my GCSE project.
Muskoka chairs

Used throughout cottage country in Muskoka, Ontario (also known as an Adirondack chair in the US). My original was made from Western Red Cedar, sourced from a specialist merchant in Essex, using a design I adapted myself. Once I built this first one, several residents in the village saw it in situ and wanted one themselves. To provide a more cost effective offer, I've made several of the chairs in Southern Yellow Pine.
Tiki bar
My friend's father asked me to design and build a Tiki Bar for his son's 18th birthday. I definitely should have got a shot of the bar when it was decorated.

Garden planters
I took the opportunity of lockdown to design, build & sell planters for local residents. Thanks to Alsford Timber for supporting me with some preferential pricing.
I even ended up partnering with a local gardener - The Passionate Gardener - to help her provide a new service to her clients.
Wall-mounted bike racks

My cousin is a keen cyclist and asked me to make him two bespoke bike racks in walnut. They were finished with Linseed oil to bring out the colour & grain.
Surf board restoration

I managed to get an old surfboard that somebody was throwing away and with a bit of love and attention, I'm now using it on my surfing holidays.
Chopping boards & bread knife

The knife is based on a design of a knife my parents brought back from Canada 20 years ago, while the boards are made from maple & walnut.
